Colors, Shapes and Sizes-Multimedia Review
By Kirsten Martindale, Buford Academy, GA

Wendy Wiseman and Bernie Cossentino have produced another fine recording, this time introducing concepts to young children with catchy tunes and practical lyrics. The original lyrics are matched with both original and traditional tunes. “Black and White” is sung to the tune “The Muffin Man”, and simply reminds children of familiar objects that are either black or white. The concepts are about as elementary as possible. “Triangle Song” (“One, two, three sides a triangle”) provides an opportunity to make triangles (“Up, down, across makes a triangle”) before giving tangible examples of the concept. Songs about primary colors, mixing colors, circles, rectangles and opposites are included. The inviting voices of Wiseman and Cossentino are accompanied by synthesized background music as well as percussion instruments. Well-trained child singers occasionally join in the fun, providing a bit of variety and adding another element to these energetic songs. The songs are recorded both with lyrics and in a split track version, enhancing the opportunities for using the songs in different settings. Early childhood educators and parents will appreciate the educational value of the simple, repetitive lyrics, but most of all, preschool listeners will be singing, smiling, and learning.

Colors, Shapes & Sizes.
Moira McCormick covers the children’s music industry for Billboard

This perky little album, the latest in an educational series, brims with sweet tunes by vocalist and KIDZUP founder Wendy Wiseman. And it’s more than just helpful to toddlers and preschoolers beginning to tackle indispensable basic concepts: each sale supports vaccination programs for Third World children.
